The SkaSouls are a West London based band, comprised of Lee Ridley (Vocals/Rhythm Guitar); Ben Banks (Lead Guitar); Nick Tidbury (Trumpet); Allan Tidbury (Trombone); Huw Stokes (Bass) and Carl Gaywood (Drums).Receiving widespread praise and critical acclaim wherever they perform, these six musicians have created a sound unique from other live bands. Borrowing styles and songs from the past greats, they have managed to rekindle the sweat and passion so necessary for real live performance, and have established an outstanding reputation and an impressive following.Drawing on many years of experience playing with acts nationally and globally, these Surrey-based musicians have merged their skills and abilities in order to create something new and extraordinary. Using strong vocals and a powerful brass section as the cream on top of a rock solid, hard-hitting rhythm section, The SkaSouls have rediscovered the formula to ignite the music scene once again; with immense levels of energy in their performances, leaving onlookers amazed by the sheer personality of the band's on-stage presence. No sampled sounds here! The original sounds and mixes from the Jamaican ska and rocksteady of the 60's and 70's (Toots & The Maytals, Desmond Dekker, Justin Hinds, Symarip etc) are perfectly merged with the urban ska standards of the late 70's and early 80's (Specials, Bad Manners, Madness etc) and comtemporary sounds of the likes of Rancid and Paolo Nutini. And now, in 2012, The SkaSouls have embarked upon the writing of their own original material, intended for inclusion on their anticipated second album later in the year.Endeavouring to keep energy levels sky-high, each live show is different from the last, with the interaction on-stage, and between band and audience always hugely entertaining and something to enjoy. It's with good reason that so many of The SkaSouls' gigs completely sell out to capacity.Check out The SkaSouls, you'll be glad you did!
