Bugfest's leader and creator, Nick, unlike others who have to combine and add up their experience between their team mates to sound better, has a genuine forty years lifetime of experience in natural history, both native UK and overseas. He has twenty five years of experience working with children, initially as a beaver scout leader in the nineties and more recent decades as a teacher and Bugfest facilitator all over the UK. Bugfest prides itself on being animal friendly and cruelty free - in other words, we no longer believe it is fair or ethical or humane, no matter what the argument for it, to drag reptiles and mammals all over the country in plastic boxes. It causes stress and unnecessary suffering to the animals that invariably lead to illnesses requiring veterinary intervention and further stress to the animals. If you want reptiles then sorry, we aren't the guys for you. If however you truly love animals and respect their needs and wellbeing, and you want an experienced presenter (ten years), with the ability to manage groups of children from ten to several hundred, then look no further. Bugfest's presenter, Nick Wadham is an experienced TRUE life-long Natural Historian with forty years of experience. He has performed live shows on stage to thousands at BBC Children in Need events, presented a live outside broadcast for BBC South, performed for Channel Four Super Vet Noel Fitzpatrick at the National Pet Show, and despite all this - is so laid back and down to earth. Having qualified teaching experience, public liability insurance and a constant subscription updating DBS, means that your events or parties are in the safest and most experienced hands, and that your children, or indeed pupils, will have the best time possible as well as learn about the animals in a way that is inimitable. Bugfest is set up and equipped for gigs of any size. We can manage a small party in a front room, or dress and perform on an entire stage! No job is too big, or too small! Bugfest is priced competitively and can provide you with FREE no obligation quotes.

We had a Bugfest show 2 years running and I cannot recommend highly enough! Very funny and entertaining with lots of audience participation for both kids and adults. The information about the creatures is fascinating and given in a really interesting style so as to keep young ones engaged throughout. Brilliant.
“ Thanks Caroline, thank you for such a warm welcome from you and all your staff. Your Cha Cha Slides are awesome! ”- Bugfest
Both the "Wild and Deadly" stage show and the opportunity to get up close to the amazing creatures cared for by Nick and his team provide an entertaining and fascinating dimension to our busy annual event.
“ Thanks Sally - looking forwards to doing it all over again this September. ”- Bugfest
Nick came to our house for a small and last minute party: he was very accommodating because of the last minute changes due to the snow! The selection of bugs was fantastic and the children and adults were all fascinated. Nick had some great anecdotes and was thoroughly informed, answering all our questions! Thank you for making my 5 year olds birthday so special.
“ Hi Mary, Thank you for your lovely feedback - you have a lovely family there with some amazingly bright children! It really was a pleasure to meet you. ”- Bugfest
Nick joined us for our 4 Family bonanza fun days during the half term holidays. Each event was very different and Nick adjusted the way in which he worked to accommodate the needs of the event. He was so friendly, and every child and adult engaged with him. The Mayor of Neath Port Talbot overcame his fear and held a SPIDER :-) Thank you Nick, we look forward to working with you again.
“ Hi Ann, thank you so much for your booking, and lovely feedback - I had a fantastic time and enjoyed meeting your lovely team. I can't wait to be back with you all again soon. Nick ”- Bugfest
The children and staff had a fantastic day learning about habitats and food chains thanks to Bugfest. His wild and worship assembly at the end of the day was an extra bonus. Looking forward to dealing with Bugfest again.
“ Hi Jo - again, thanks for having Bugfest at your school. I'm glad you enjoyed Wild Worship, the spiritual well being of the children in our care is so important. Thank you for trusting me in that respect. I can't wait to see you all again soon. Nick ”- Bugfest
We had Bugfest come and do a show at our school Easter Egg Hunt event. They were fantastic. Not one negative review from a school full of people.
“ Hi Emma, thank you so much for such lovely feedback - Dan and I had a fantastic time with you and it was so hard to judge all of the Easter bonnets - they all deserved to win. ”- Bugfest
Nick visited Weymouth Connect in the afternoon on 3oth April. We are a generic Day Service offering a service to clients of varying abilities including Older persons, Learning disabilities and Physical disabilities. The joy that it gave to so many of our clients was amazing, to see the participation of many clients, some who are not always as engaged in activities as others. Nick engaged with all the clients and staff allaying any intrepidation and encouraging through out the afternoon. Thank you very much Nick we look forward to seeing you in July.
“ Thank you so much Maggie for taking a moment out of your busy schedule to give such amazing feedback. I can't thank you enough for allowing me to share time with your clients. It was a truly humbling experience as always for me. Not only will I have the fortune to join you again in July, I have also been invited over to Blandford Connect in June and August. I have worked in your supported learning contexts and supported living for many years with Bugfest and I just love the look of awe in everyone's faces. Can't wait to see you all again. Nick ”- Bugfest
An engaging, hands on display of creepie crawlies. Amusing and informative, had the children (and adults) mesmerised
“ Thank you John, it was a pleasure to be part of Sherborne Castle Fair. ”- Bugfest
Went to Westlands today as saw it being advertised, watched the show which was interesting and the kids enjoyed it (could have been a bit shorter) but all in all wasn't bad. Got home and told my wife about this as we were looking to have themed birthday party and my kids love reptiles and insects. Went to the website to look at the reviews, and very surprised to find out that this company clearly states that they believe it is cruel to be using reptiles when they were using them in the show, and it is even on their website. "Bugfest prides itself on being animal friendly and cruelty free - in other words, we no longer believe it is fair or ethical or humane, no matter what the argument for it, to drag reptiles and mammals all over the country in plastic boxes. It causes stress and unnecessary suffering to the animals that invariably lead to illnesses requiring veterinary intervention and further stress to the animals. If you want reptiles then sorry, we aren't the guys for you." If this were the case why were there reptiles being used? I was going to make a booking, however, there are clearly double standards within this company. If you say you will not use them, make sure you don't as it gives a false impression.
“ Hi, I value your feedback - I can assure you that the one and only one snake at the fair is not mine - it belonged to an individual owner who wanted to show it on the day and is local in the area. I don't even own reptiles any more. Neither do I take them out with me to any visits I do - even if they are someone else's. If you were to book a party with me, I would not have reptiles, as like I say - it is not fair to drag them thirty thousand miles around the country. ”- Bugfest
