Emergency Care Assistant - PHEM Skill descriptor E
Emergency Care Assistant (ECA) is trained to QA Level 4 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care or equivalent, usually with the QA Level 3 Award in Safe Administration of Lifesaving Medication (RCSEd FPHC Skill Descriptor E). They are trained in the diagnosis and management of a wide range of medical conditions & traumatic injuries as well as maternity patients. The ECA is trained in immediate life support (supraglottic airway devices) and manual defibrillation. An ECA is also trained in 12 lead cardiac monitoring, medical gases & some drug therapies. As a minimum, we supply at at least one to events.
