Overview

From Elvis to Mumford & Sons, enjoy live pop covers from 1955 to the present across North Surrey, East Berkshire, South Buckinghamshire, and West Middlesex.

The Retros are a musical duo who perform popular hit songs from the last 60 years to raise money for CLIC Sargent, a charity supporting children with cancer, and occasionally other local children’s charities. The Retros do not charge or accept any fees or expenses (only refreshments while performing). All donations, including contributions from venues, are collected in official sealed cans, opened and counted in the presence of a witness, and a cheque for the full amount is sent to the charity, which provides acknowledgement certificates for forwarding to the venues. The Retros are Dave and Rob, who formed the duo in memory of their talented bandmate John, who passed away from liver cancer at the age of 40. They made their debut at a private garden party in September 2002 before starting their public performances. They perform at pubs, clubs, and private functions mainly around east Berkshire, north Surrey, west Middlesex, and south Buckinghamshire. Donations are requested from venues and customers or hosts and guests, encouraged by soliciting song requests and supplemented by raffles, auctions, or sponsorships arranged by the venues or hosts. The hallmark of the Retros is their inventive vocal harmonies together with Rob’s versatile guitar accompaniment, supported by state-of-the-art technology to add other instruments and additional voices. No pre-recorded backing tapes are used; what you hear is what is actually being played and sung.
